This research report documents the final step in resilience analysis process for the Program to Enhance
Resilience in Somalia (PROGRESS). The multi-step process employs an empirically driven process to create
and measure locally relevant indicators for resilience within targeted communities. The data informs adaptive program implementation by Catholic Relief Services (CRS) and partners in Somalia.
The report would not have been possible without the teamwork and support by partner staff from Save Somali Women and Children (SSWC), Social-Life and Agricultural Development (SADO), SOS Children’s Villages
International (SOS) and staff of George Washington Institute for Disaster and Fragility Resilience (IDFR), Elliott School of International Affairs, and Benadir University Somali Disaster Resilience Institute (SDRI).
We appreciate the contribution of the Government of Somalia through the representatives Ministry of
Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management.
Our appreciation also goes to the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), through the joint funding support by the Office for Foreign Disaster Assistance, Food for Peace, and USAID Mission.
We wish to express our gratitude to the many youth, women, and men who participated in our research. In addition, we greatly appreciate the local leaders, and members of local associations who provided the much-needed information, worked with the field teams and continued to dedicate themselves to improving the quality of life of Somalia’s communities.

By standing together in solidarity, we not only uplift the most vulnerable among us but also pave the way for a future where peace, justice, and sustainability are not ideals, but realities.
