Dr. Mohamed Osman Mohamoud’s insatiable thirst for knowledge first led him to Mogadishu University, where he embarked on a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, graduating in 2009. He earned a Master’s in Economic Policy and Planning from Makerere University and a Master’s in Conflict Resolution and Peacebuilding from Kampala International University in 2012 and 2013, respectively. This phase of his educational journey underscored his commitment to addressing the complex challenges facing Somalia.

His scholarly pursuits culminated in 2021 with a Ph.D. in Peace, Governance, and Development from a prestigious institution, focusing on the Political Economy of Youth Alienation in Statebuilding. As an economic advisor to the President of Somalia and a member of the National Economic Council, Dr. Osman continues to champion education, environment, agriculture, health, and economic development. He played a pivotal role in twinning Somali universities with international counterparts, facilitated access to scholarships for Somali students, and contributed to enhancing the national curriculum for both basic and higher education. His efforts led to the establishment of the United Nations University for Peace office in Somalia, culminating in the graduation of hundreds of Masters students and over 30 Ph.D.s, including notable figures such as the President of Somalia.
